Deleting the wrong email address is essential to maintain an organized contact list. In this article, we will guide you through the steps to delete a wrong email address in Outlook.
1. Open Outlook and navigate to the Contact folder
First, open your Outlook application and go to the “Contacts” folder. This folder contains all your email addresses and contact information. If you cannot find the “Contacts” folder, you can click on the “People” button in the navigation pane to access it.
2. Find the wrong email address
Once you are in the “Contacts” folder, scroll through the list of email addresses to find the one you want to delete. If you have a large contact list, you can use the search bar at the top to quickly locate the email address.
3. Select the wrong email address
Once you have found the wrong email address, click on it to select it. If you want to delete multiple email addresses, you can hold down the “Ctrl” key and click on each email address to select them.
4. Delete the wrong email address
With the wrong email address selected, right-click on it and choose “Delete” from the context menu. A confirmation dialog box will appear, asking you to confirm the deletion. Click “Yes” to delete the email address.
5. Confirm the deletion
After confirming the deletion, the wrong email address will be removed from your contact list. You can now close the “Contacts” folder and continue managing your emails.
6. (Optional) Delete the email address from the Sent Items folder
In some cases, the wrong email address may also be present in the “Sent Items” folder. To ensure that the email address is completely removed from your Outlook account, you can navigate to the “Sent Items” folder and delete any emails that were sent to the wrong address.
