How to Export Explorer Favorites
In today’s digital age, managing your favorite websites and files is essential for efficient browsing. Microsoft Windows Explorer, now known as File Explorer, allows users to save their favorite websites as favorites for quick access. However, sometimes you may need to export these favorites to another computer or device. In this article, we will guide you through the process of how to export explorer favorites in a few simple steps.
Step 1: Open File Explorer
The first step in exporting your explorer favorites is to open File Explorer on your Windows computer. You can do this by clicking on the File Explorer icon on the taskbar or by searching for “File Explorer” in the Start menu.
Step 2: Navigate to the Favorites Folder
Once File Explorer is open, navigate to the Favorites folder. This folder contains all the favorite websites and files you have saved. To find the Favorites folder, click on the “Favorites” link in the left-hand navigation pane.
Step 3: Select the Favorites to Export
In the Favorites folder, you will see a list of all your saved favorites. To select the ones you want to export, simply click on them. If you want to export all the favorites, you can do so by holding down the “Ctrl” key and clicking on each favorite.
Step 4: Copy the Favorites
After selecting the favorites you want to export, right-click on them and choose “Copy” from the context menu. This will copy the selected favorites to the clipboard.
Step 5: Create a New Folder
Next, navigate to the destination where you want to save the exported favorites. Right-click on an empty space in the folder and choose “New” > “Folder.” Name this folder something like “Exported Favorites.”
Step 6: Paste the Favorites
In the newly created folder, right-click on an empty space and choose “Paste.” This will paste the copied favorites into the folder.
Step 7: Export the Folder
To export the folder containing your favorites, right-click on the folder and choose “Send to” > “Compressed (zipped) folder.” This will create a compressed folder containing all your exported favorites.
Step 8: Transfer the Exported Folder
Now that you have a compressed folder containing your exported favorites, you can transfer it to another computer or device using a USB drive, external hard drive, or cloud storage service.
Step 9: Import the Favorites on the New Computer
On the new computer, navigate to the location where you transferred the exported folder. Right-click on the folder and choose “Extract All” to extract the contents. Once extracted, you can import the favorites into the new computer’s File Explorer by following the same steps as mentioned earlier in this article.
