How to Hide Quick Access in File Explorer
In the modern Windows operating system, the File Explorer has been equipped with a feature called Quick Access, which provides users with a convenient way to access frequently used folders and files. However, some users may find Quick Access to be intrusive or cluttered, especially when they prefer a more minimalist interface. If you are one of those users who wish to hide Quick Access in File Explorer, here is a step-by-step guide to help you achieve that.
Step 1: Open File Explorer
To begin, open File Explorer by clicking on the folder icon in the taskbar, or by pressing the Windows key + E on your keyboard.
Step 2: Access the Folder Options
Once File Explorer is open, click on the “View” tab at the top of the window. In the “Show/Hide” group, click on “Options.”
Step 3: Open the View Tab
In the Folder Options window that appears, click on the “View” tab. This tab contains various settings related to the appearance and behavior of File Explorer.
Step 4: Uncheck “Show Quick Access”
In the “Advanced settings” section of the View tab, scroll down to the “File Explorer” section. Look for the “Show Quick Access” option and uncheck the box next to it.
Step 5: Apply and Close
After unchecking the “Show Quick Access” option, click on “Apply” to save the changes. Then, click “OK” to close the Folder Options window.
Step 6: Restart File Explorer
To ensure that the changes take effect, it is recommended to restart File Explorer. You can do this by closing all File Explorer windows and then opening them again.
Now, when you open File Explorer, you should no longer see the Quick Access section. This will give you a cleaner and more focused interface, allowing you to focus on the files and folders you need to work with.
If you ever decide to restore Quick Access, simply follow the same steps and check the “Show Quick Access” option again. Enjoy your new, clutter-free File Explorer experience!
