How to Turn on Add-ons in Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer, despite its declining popularity, still remains a widely used web browser for many users. One of the key features of Internet Explorer is the ability to extend its functionality through add-ons. These add-ons can range from simple toolbars to complex applications that enhance your web browsing experience. However, some users may find that their add-ons are not enabled by default. In this article, we will guide you through the process of how to turn on add-ons in Internet Explorer.

Firstly, you need to open Internet Explorer. Once the browser is open, click on the gear icon located at the top-right corner of the window. This will open the Settings menu.

Next, in the Settings menu, click on “Manage add-ons.” This will open a new window that displays all the add-ons installed on your system.

In the Manage Add-ons window, you will see a list of add-ons categorized into different types, such as Toolbars and Extensions, Search Providers, Tracking Protection, and more. To enable or disable an add-on, you need to select the appropriate category from the dropdown menu on the left-hand side of the window.

For example, if you want to enable a toolbar add-on, select “Toolbars and Extensions” from the dropdown menu. You will then see a list of all the toolbars and extensions installed on your system. To enable a specific add-on, simply check the box next to its name. To disable an add-on, uncheck the box.

After you have enabled or disabled the desired add-ons, click on the “OK” button at the bottom of the window. This will apply the changes and the selected add-ons will be enabled or disabled accordingly.

In addition to enabling add-ons from the Manage Add-ons window, you can also enable or disable add-ons from the Control Panel. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click on the Start button and type “Control Panel” in the search box.
2. Open Control Panel and click on “Programs.”
3. Under the Programs and Features section, click on “Turn Windows features on or off.”
4. In the Windows Features dialog box, scroll through the list of features and find “Internet Explorer”.
5. Check the box next to “Internet Explorer” to enable it. If it is already checked, it means that Internet Explorer is enabled on your system.
6. Click “OK” to apply the changes.

By following these steps, you should now be able to turn on add-ons in Internet Explorer. Remember that some add-ons may require you to restart the browser for the changes to take effect. If you encounter any issues while enabling or disabling add-ons, make sure to check for any conflicting software or updates that may be causing the problem.
